The problems this solves
The gate is the weakest record in the plant. A paper register cannot say who is still inside during an evacuation, and it cannot separate a visitor from a contractor from a material movement. Contract labour is hard to pay accurately. Attendance that arrives as a spreadsheet from a labour contractor is a claim, not a record. Biometric and multi-shift attendance produces the register you can check that claim against, before the bill is approved.
Maintenance runs on memory. Preventive schedules that fire by calendar or by meter reading — run hours, cycles, kilometres — mean the machine tells you when it is due rather than a supervisor remembering. Breakdowns are logged from the shop floor on a phone, with the spare consumption recorded against the job.
